WCAG2 is here for Australia — don’t panic.
Yesterday, the Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Lindsay Tanner, and Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities, Bill Shorten, said the Commonwealth Government had endorsed new website accessibility standards, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
The new standard replaces WCAG 1.0, which has been in operation since 2000. Transition arrangements will be announced soon.
The AFLF e-standards Expert Group have already produced a report from Roger Hudson of Webusability on ‘WCAG2 evaluation for the VET sector’, which reports on the key differences and implications for Vocational Education and Training in Australia from the introduction of WCAG2.
